6 Basic Ways to get your Air Conditioner Ready this Summer
1. Prioritize Safety
Before performing any repair on your air conditioning system, shut off the circuit breaker. Before working on your air conditioner unit, make careful to switch off the electricity to the condenser at the service panel. A high-volt weatherproof disconnect box is often placed next to the condenser. To turn off the condenser, this has a lever, fuses, or a circuit breaker. Be careful to unplug this as well.
2. Change or Clean the filters
As soon as your Air filters start to seem dust-clogged, clean or replace them. Alternately, at least twice a year. Your air conditioner will operate less efficiently and have restricted airflow if these filters are not changed. In your house, dust is also circulated by dust filters.
3. Declutter your Drain
It’s important to declutter your Drain by cleaning them. Remove all of the leaves and dirt from the condenser’s base. Make sure the drain is clear if your air conditioner has one. A vacuum or rag can be used to clean the blower’s fan blades. Eliminate any extra water within the appliance. Reassemble the condenser when everything has been emptied and cleaned.
4. Clean the coils on the AC
Condenser coils of your air conditioner should be cleaned of dirt. Condenser unit of a central air conditioner, usually outside. It is a large fan enclosed in a metal box with grille-like sides. Uncover your condenser unit if it was covered throughout the winter. There is probably not much debris to remove in this situation. Ensure that the fan is clean and free of any obstructions. After that, look inside the package. Condenser coils that resemble radiators are crossed by air. Check the coils for obstructions caused by the debris. If so, clean these coils so that your condenser will work properly.

5. Examine your coolant lines.
Examine the insulation to check if there are any spots where it is torn or missing entirely. From the evaporator on the air handler of your air conditioner to the condenser outdoors are tubes or pipelines that carry refrigerant. These lines are often insulated with foam coolant lines. If so, either swap it out for fresh foam insulation sleeves or spirally wrap the lines in foam insulation tape.
6. Examine the device
After giving the unit enough time to completely dry, test your freshly cleaned air conditioner. Your condenser unit needs to have electricity restored.
Restart the condenser’s power by performing the following:
• Deactivate the thermostat in your house.
• Switch on the electricity at the main panel as well as the disconnect box.
• Set the thermostat to the cool setting.
